The Real Taste of Bengaluru.

LAST UPDATED 7 OCTOBER 2026

No apps. No sign-ups. No corporate sponsorships. Just food.

Bengaluru.Food is an anonymous, crowdsourced map dedicated to uncovering the real taste of the city, from hidden street carts to 2 AM biryani spots. We built it because the best food in Bengaluru isn't always found on a delivery app, and it definitely doesn't need a five-star rating system to validate it.

By exploring the map or dropping a pin, you agree to our Terms of Service.

Powered by the community

This map relies entirely on you to keep it alive and accurate. Anyone can drop a pin, share a hidden gem, and guide others to a great meal.

Built on open tech

We believe in keeping the web simple and fast. Bengaluru.Food runs on vanilla HTML, CSS and JavaScript, powered by Leaflet and Supabase (PostgreSQL + PostGIS), and hosted on Netlify. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors. No paywalls, no ad networks, and no analytics trackers. Our Privacy Policy lists every third party involved.

Who's Behind It & How to Reach Us

bengaluru.food is an entirely independent project run by one person in Bangalore, not a tech company. It isn't a restaurant directory, a delivery app, or a booking service—and we don't verify every single pin. Read our Terms before you cross town on a stranger's tip.

Got a question, spotted a correction, or found a place we've badly misjudged? We'd love to hear from you:

Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED 7 OCTOBER 2026

We respect your privacy. Bengaluru.Food operates anonymously, so we don't collect your name, email address or phone number, and we don't track you across other websites. We will never sell your data. This policy follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

No accounts | No cookies | No ads or analytics | Nothing sold, ever

The details

1. Data collection and spam prevention

Because anyone can add a pin without logging in, we have to protect the map from bots and malicious spam. When you add a spot, rate, comment, like, flag or check in, our servers receive your IP address and your browser information (User-Agent).

How we use it: We generate a one-way, anonymous "hash" from them and store it with your contribution. It stops one person from spamming the map with hundreds of fake pins or votes.

Storage: We don't store your raw IP address or User-Agent in our database. The hash is stored permanently alongside your contribution. While it exists, it can link contributions from the same device and network, but it can't tell us who you are. Standard server logs, which include IP addresses, are kept by our hosting and security providers.

Device ID: Your browser also creates an identifier and keeps it in local storage for the same anti-abuse purpose.

2. Location data

If you use "I am here" or "Locate Me", your browser asks for your GPS coordinates. Centring the map and measuring your distance to a pin happens on your device. If you're within about 30 metres of a spot and tap "I am here", your latitude and longitude are sent to our server to confirm the check-in and update the live count. Check-ins are deleted after 7 days. We don't track your continuous movement, and we don't keep a location history. Say no to the browser prompt and the rest of the map still works.

3. Third-party services

  • Supabase (Cloudflare in front): Database for pins, descriptions, ratings, check-ins. Sees IP, User-Agent, your posts, check-in coordinates.
  • Netlify: Hosts the site, keeps standard server logs for security and uptime. Sees IP.
  • CARTO / OpenStreetMap: Map tiles. Sees IP, and the map area you view.
  • Google Fonts: Fonts. Sees IP.
  • unpkg (Cloudflare): Leaflet code. Sees IP.

These providers follow their own policies and may process data outside India. We don't share your data with anyone else.

4. Cookies and local storage

No cookies. Your browser's local storage holds your device ID, whether you've seen the intro tour, your light or dark theme, and, if our database can't be reached, a temporary offline copy of spots you add. It all stays on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

5. How long we keep things

  • Spots, comments, ratings: Until removed
  • Hash on those posts: Stored permanently alongside the post
  • Check-ins: 7 days
  • Tap (popularity) logs: 7 days
  • Spots with no ratings: Deleted after 7 days, hash included

6. Your rights and consent

By using these features after reading this notice, you consent to the processing described here, and you can withdraw consent any time by stopping or by writing to us. Under the DPDP Act you can ask for a summary of data we hold about you, request correction or erasure, make a grievance, and nominate someone to act for you. Since we can't tell who you are, the easiest route is to email the link to what you posted and we'll remove it.

7. Security, breaches and children

The site runs over HTTPS and the hashing secret stays on the server. If a breach occurs, we will post a public notice on this site and inform the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires. This site is for people 18 and over, and we don't knowingly collect children's data.

8. Contact

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. You can reach us here:

Terms of Service

LAST UPDATED 7 OCTOBER 2026

Bengaluru.Food is a free, crowdsourced map of Bengaluru. By using the site, dropping a pin, or hunting for food based on our map, you agree to the following rules, which are published under the IT Act, 2000 and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. You must be 18 or older.

1. Crowdsourced opinions, not verified facts

The locations, prices, open hours and descriptions on Bengaluru.Food are submitted by the public. We are an intermediary platform and we don't verify every listing. A street cart might move, a restaurant might close, and prices will change. Check before you cross town.

2. Limitation of liability (eat at your own risk)

We're a map, not a food safety inspector. We can't guarantee the accuracy, safety, licensing or hygiene of any food establishment listed here. Using Bengaluru.Food is at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, the creators, developers and moderators aren't responsible for illness (including food poisoning), injury, loss, or disappointing meals from visiting places found on this map. Our total liability for any claim is capped at INR 0, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that the law doesn't allow to be excluded. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", and may change or stop at any time.

3. User-generated content and moderation

Anyone can suggest a place. By submitting a location, description or comment, you grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to publish, edit, translate or remove it. You keep ownership, and you confirm you have the right to grant this licence.

Keep it clean. Don't post anything defamatory, illegal, abusive, hateful, spammy, copied from elsewhere, or unrelated to food. Don't post anyone's personal details. Don't drop pins on private homes without relevance, and don't post accusations about a named vendor that you can't back up from your own experience.

Our right to moderate. We can remove any pin or comment, or restrict access (including by blocking), at our discretion, at any time, with or without notice, to keep the map useful and safe. We act on valid court orders and lawful government notices.

4. Fair use

No scraping, bots, load-testing or reverse-engineering. Don't clear your device ID to vote or rate twice, and only use "I am here" when you actually are. We may rate-limit or block anyone who breaks this.

5. Content and intellectual property

The custom code, UI and curation of Bengaluru.Food belong to us. Posts belong to their authors, subject to the licence above. Trademarks, place names and logos belong to their owners, and we aren't affiliated with them. Base map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database Licence, with tiles from CARTO.

6. Takedowns and reports

If you spot a malicious pin, a copyright issue (under the Copyright Act, 1957) or a privacy violation, or you own a listed place and want it corrected or removed, tell us with the pin link and your reason. We aim to respond within 72 hours.

7. Indemnity

If a claim arises because of something you posted or because you broke these terms, you'll cover the losses and reasonable costs, not us.

8. Law and courts

Indian law applies, and the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.

9. Changes and contact

These terms may change at any time, tracked by the date at the top of this page, and continued use means you accept the update. You can reach us here:
